Crossways Garage has been a proud part of the local motor trade since 1961, building a reputation for honesty, reliability, and quality vehicles that spans more than six decades.
The business was originally established in Colne, Essex, specialising in the sale of new and used BMC and Leyland vehicles, alongside a full range of servicing and aftersales support. From the very beginning, Crossways developed a loyal customer base built on trust, expertise, and a genuine passion for the motor industry.

Six Decades of Progress
Established in Colne, Essex
Crossways Garage opens its doors, specialising in BMC and Leyland vehicles alongside full servicing and aftersales. A loyal local customer base begins to form from day one.
Official Renault Dealership & Move to Halstead
Crossways becomes an official Renault dealership, expanding into new vehicles and manufacturer-approved servicing. That same year, the business acquires its current Halstead High Street premises, initially as a used car outlet for part-exchanges.
Three Generations, One Standard
Now trading through three generations of the same family, Crossways Garage continues to specialise in carefully selected used cars from its Halstead home — combining decades of experience with a modern approach to vehicle retail.
The Renault Years
In 1981, Crossways evolved into an official Renault dealership, marking a significant step forward in the business. The Halstead site — initially opened as a used car outlet for part-exchange vehicles — quickly became a key part of the operation due to its success and growing demand. It remains our home to this day.
